  5. Hamsiki: What is my purpose?

    Rick: You reshelve books.

    Hamsiki: Oh my god.

Rick: Yeah, Welcome to the club pal.

Itโ€™s nice to be on the money for the most part. A disgruntled sentient being that has to freshelve books as its sole purpose. Iโ€™m imagining the hamster and its voice from Overlord.

I canโ€™t remember if there were no essences from the rain storm on the book island. A possibility is that all the essences get sucked and stored into the room, then are turned into books by the hamster which they then reshelve.

    1. this makes me wonder, given that Dreadfear was a real person before being a floor boss, and theres been heavy hints to imply the same for the other floor lords and Labyrinth entities, Who was Hamsiki? he says that he just knows these things? and nothing before. That implies either created memories, or erased memories. Either way, if created, that means Hamsiki was an artificial being, and that has a lot of implications if the Labyrinth literally creates new sapient creatures just for admin roles. But if theyre erased memories, that means Hamsiki was someone, or something else before this. And if so, what was he? Given the past shown with Dreadfear, i have a feeling that theres some major connections to the Empire, the Witch, and their hunt for her. Given that hamsiki seems friendly, we can maybe guess that whoever he was before, was somehow friendly with the Witch. Maybe he was her mentor? taught her something at somepoint? Hence the book stuff. i really hope that we get some background lore to connect the Empire and Witch history here

      1. Great thoughts. Iโ€™m super curious about the witch still, and Iโ€™m sure the mind-blowing revelations will elucidate much of the mysteries of the labyrinth/basement levels

      2. It feels more like he's an aspect of someone that was given sentience. Also, I think the village chief is absorbing the life force of those bodies he has which would explain why he's lived as long as he has. Maybe he separates a person's life energy from their body and forms it into one of the monsters that lives in his village. Now that they're the same race, he can synchronize his life with theirs and live longer. His dragon probably died of old age and that's why he can't go to the library anymore. His transportations gone and he might not even be able to move too far away from his people. Too many questions but Bjorn definitely needs to ask what monsters essence he focused on when he was there. It would help him understand just what the village chief is up to.

        1. If he is some aspect of someone given awareness, like you guessed, it could explain the fragmented memories, Hamsiki seems to have the most intact mental facilities compared to others weโ€™ve seen. maybe thats what alot of the Floor bosses and Guardians are. Even Miyalel, the spear guardian Titanus, Bjorn was saying had unique lines, The vampire lord near the start also had lines he spoke. So if we go off the idea that these WERE real people, and are just fragments of them like you said. Then does that mean every major entity in the labyrinth is potentially a copied person? Could all the Floor lords, Guardians, and such, be real entities that existed back in the days of the Empire? Its been implied a few times. So if the Labyrinth is connected there somehow, Maybe the labyrinth itself is a massive collection of Record Fragments, Forged and combined back together, in an attempt to do Something. Idk what the goal was. But theres archives, mentions of some empire we know almost nothing about, the record fragment Bjorn had, the overall Stone of Records that we know exists. The labyrinth seemingly building up the history of the Earth Witch and the Empire through strutruced events that encourage the growth of the person. The hidden pieces being called โ€œarrangementsโ€. If the Great sage somehow collected all the shards he could find, that connected to the History of the Witch. Then maybe the Labyrinth is an attempt for someone to do something similar to what Bjorn did in the isolated record fragment? To find a way to circumvent Destiny itself, and save the world, we still dont know whats out beyond Raphdonia for example, there could be some danger unknown still. To not stop the events that happened, but to sidestep them, and hide the true reality. and this could somehow be connected to the events of the Empireโ€™s Fall and the Hunt for the Earth Witch. The hidden pieces, the conditions, everything Bjorn is potentially doing, what if its all part of the Arrangements of the Great Sage, in order to lead the person down the right path, to find the history they must learn, to uncover the secrets that are so guarded, in order to oppose the destiny that spells everyoneโ€™s end. We have leatlas, who has Helped Bjorn before, and is a Goddess to do with destiny and oracles from what we have been told. There must be a reason. If Bjorn seems to be following all these arrangements, who else but a goddess of Destiny and Fate would know? Who else would try and guide the hands of Fate down the best possible option. We know that fate cant technically be changed, but the execution can be. If Bjorn figured that out, the Great sage knows this, Leatlas knows it, its not something unknown to these powers. Im not sure how right this is, but i think theres something to be said of this idea

          1. Auril Gavis has had 25 years to prepare the endgame for Bjorn. He was probably ecstatic when he met Bjorn on the past because it gave him time to make his arrangements. Also yeah I'm brewing up a โ€˜Basement level = Hell' theory. Actually. All those chimera monsters with multiple essences. Explorers could be the catalyst that made it possible for the monsters to exist. Since explorers can hold multiple essences from different beasts. Or the basement level could be the junkheap. The rejects from the labyrinth. The different creatures, boss monsters who botch their lines, some random dragon rider, and honestly I might have persuaded myself the hamster is a rejected spell. That mage librarian had a spell she could use that would reshelve the books in the library. That spells function is the same as hamsters.

          2. Awesome wall of text. I forgot about Leatlas! That does add something, especially given her theme.

        2. What if the dragon was a monster and the chief was able to control it (or put one of the villagers in it)ยน

          2. dragons and the dragon people are specifically different i thought? cause there was mention of dragon monsters in the labyrinth, cause the dragon people look like humanoid dragons dont they? i assumed the one the chief had was a tamed monster somehow, which honestly, would be interesting if we can learn how that was done, cause if its actually tamed, thats impressive

          3. Maybe a mind control + distortion combo? Cuz I don't know if there's any precedent for monsters leaving the labyrinth.

    2. Good reference! Also, great thoughts about the origin and rationale of the library. Itโ€™s extremely mysterious, but seems so explicitly purposeful that it must have deep lore implications in this world.

    1. I mean he already got his shield. Maybe a good essence? But he will get bellarions essence, its just a question about time since they can just stay down here and farm for as long as they need too. If i can guess it will have to do with something about getting back home? This basement part is getting long. But im enjoying it so far

    2. I mean, we have no indication heโ€™s actually Bound there. Technically, he said himself he has never talked to someone before now, and that even the chief wasnt able to understand him. Maybe Hamsiki just never considered leaving cause he had no friends or reason to leave. But Bjorn is now his Friend. He has someone, a reason. So maybe weโ€™ll get to see a new team mascot. also wait, if its some spell that makes the others see Hamsiki weird, and Bjorn IS seeing some true form, and thinks its cute, if Hamsiki ever drops that spell somehow, what will Amelia do? shes shown weird tendencies haha, Will she agree with Bjorn and think Hamsiki is cute
