This chapter actually cleared up a big question I had which was how hard does it have to be to get the resurrection stone if Bjorn only obtained it once even though he obtained the essence from the 5th floor lord 300 times.
(Which then made me confused how strong/knowledgeable baek ho actually was if he was able to achieve a feat of equal difficulty as Bjorn)
But it seems like he obtained it that one time and then after trying it out realized it was useless and never attempted to obtain it again. For all we know he probably could have obtained it dozens of times if he wanted to.
Could he maybe use the record stone to restore his stats and abilities after the resurrection stone? He didn't know about the record stone in the game so it makes sense that they would combo together.
the record stone hasnt been said to have any ability to revert people or anything of that nature, its only ever been said to record information, and has basically the fixed events of the timeline written down, from the fragment of records, we know the exact manner those events happen can change slightly, but the overall perception of how things go will be fixed if its on the record stone from what weโve been shown. so if the record stone could revert people who lost memories, that would be a bit out of left field, since nothing of the sort has ever been implied or shown, guess its not impossible, but it feels incredibly unlikely, also we dont know where the record stone is, weโve only seen the one fragment of records, and as far as we know, the record stone was implied to be destroyed into the fragments of records, so how could he ever get a fragment to do this concept anyway, not to mention if said fragment would even have the history of bjorn as part of that fragment
I like this kind of cooperative relationship between enemies, maybe Bjorn will have a new card between the royal family, I don't want to read the other comments might be a spoiler in form of prediction
Now that I think about it, this comment section lacks a spoiler tag to hide comments. It would be useful for all the theories. Though I don't think anyone would pay for a translation here only for spoiling people, there's definitely an annoying factor when a theory it's correct and you can't know if it's spoiler or not for users who don't engage in them. I'll check around if I find such a feature for this type of comment section.EDIT: found it!

TESTFrom now on, if I have a theory, I will start using this.Though, my record of getting things right is abysmally low, mind youโฆ
well, as Lucas said, all the theories we had on the stone are null and void now, well, some people said a reset, but i think we all thought that would mean a reset of the essences or levels, not a reset of the mind. but from this, we can now consider what new options open up. Since the stone can only revive people recently dead and who have a corpse intact, and then also erases memories, could it be possible that the blessings of lethe from Noark are somehow related to the function of the resurrection stone? like, could the creator of the blessing of lethe have potentially had some form of contact with the resurrection stone or seen one used in the past? we havent seen almost anything that affects memories other than this stone, and the Blessing of lethe right? Besides that, as someone else mentioned in the comments, in the same way that the Blessing of Lethe doesnt affect Evil Spirits and their memories, could the revival stone also not affect the memories of evil spirits? and for that matter? why does the blessing of lethe not affect their memories? If we consider where memories are stored, we can say that memories are in our brains, our minds, yes, that is true, but in this case, since memories are retained when Bjorn and otherโs souls leave their body and go to the Community, then that implies that memories are also stored in the soul. Could there be some connection between the soul not originally being from the body that causes the blessing of lethe (and therefore potentially the resurrection stone as well) to not erase the memories of the soul that possesses the body, and only the memories of the brain itself, so therefore, since the memories in the soul would remain, evil spirits arent affected by the blessing for this reason potentially? Now, i imagine that the stone will likely still take memories of evil spirits, given that the Village chief is also wary of losing his memories, and he is, functionally, the same as evil spirits in this hypothetical, and the stone is a much higher tier item, and also given that Leatlas said that it wasnt the right ending, further increases the chance that Bjorn would also lose his memories, as that would affect the ending greatly if bjorn loses his memories. Also, Karui did come up, in a wildly different way than i was thinking, given its not him directly coming in, but rather an object that gives his powers for a cost. Since it can grant powers of Karui, could it do things besides body swapping then as well? what else can it do?
It's kinda weird it's called karuiโs heart, wtf. So, can you take divine gods hostage using things like these? And what would happen if a karui's priest offered the heart to Karui?? Since it's something really important to the god, he may be able to grant an insanely absurd wish, isn't it?
also, if such an item exists for the gaining the powers of karui, are there items that grant the powers of the other gods? Is there a Heart of Leatlas? i dont remember the name but i think theres another god thats been talked about right? mostly just in passing but i think they were mentioned
good point on that, also, i wonder what the limit is for offerings to Karui? is it only physical things? or could you offer your memories even? if items like the resurrection stone can take memories, why not a god who invokes a cost? What if he can take specific emotions even? like your love for a person? Or even just all memory of that person, or some variation of that, like, if you can take over someones body, does that mean youre also offering the soul and mind of the person taken over to Karui? or is the cost paid to lock away the soul and mind inside the body after the transfer? i really wanna know more details about how Karui works and what his deals can truly do if you think outside the box a little
Yes, you are rightโฆ I wouldn't rule out anything about Karuiโs powers.Though what happens if you ask him now to swap bodies with someone else. Would it be possible for him to do it without his heart?Or would he say something like, it's not possible with his current strengthโฆOn that point, wouldn't Leatlas also give Bjorn a quest in the future to search for a missing part of her?And what if these gods only engage with the people precisely because they are held hostages with this method. It's honestly a little too overwhelming the things we don't know anything about, and how they suddenly could end up linking with the story st some point. To be honest, my head is kinda hurting a little now after reading all these comments and trying to come up with conclusions. ๐
Iโm really curious about this too, what other powers of karui exist, aside from necromancy and body swapping. Especially since the Immortal King used to use it, perhaps some of his other powers are attributed to the heart too?
i mean, we saw the dragon slayer use the karui priest that was with him to teleport it looked like, so i imagine anything that magic can normally do is one basic option, then the body swaps weโve seen, necromancy, and probably lots of curses from what we do know at least, as for other stuff, not sure
Wait! I just realizedโฆ if the stone can only be used right after a person has died, and makes the person forget their memoriesโฆ then Bjorn as Lion mask has been stringing Crescent Moon along this whole time knowing that even if he got the stone, he wouldnโt be able to use itโฆ talk about award-winning dick moveโฆ
There goes the hope that Erwin's uncle might get her mom and sister back
fuck, Bjorn using information for his own benefit tracks, espeically for when he joined the round table, but damn, if Crescent moon ever finds out, thats gonna stingโฆ
About moon-faceโฆ we don't know the circumstancesโฆ might be someone cursed or with an illness not yet dead but destined to be, or the target to use the stone (we don't even know if it's a person, a pet or whatโฆ) is in some sort of stasis allowing Bjorn to not end as an assholeโฆAt this point author has popped the โgods solves everythingโ card, so I won't be surprised about any shenanigans author pulls from his ass to justify the โBjorn's ends always on topโ wishful auto insert.
i mean, Crescent moon is the Son of the Marquis? right? that seems pretty obvious to me, given that its been heavily implied that his son is an evil spirit, and Crescent moon has had alot of royal family info. and i have no basis for this train of thought, just vibes and a gut feeling, but i always felt like he feels Guilty for being an evil spirit, and taking the live of someone else. So i have this inkling that he wants to revive the person whose body he took over, and still be alive himself. again, absolutely no basis for this, just a feeling, but yeah, im almost certain im probably wrong, but still a fun thought
oh opps, i must have gotten the two of them mixed up, ngl, crescent moon and deer mask can sometimes mesh together in my mind, those two get the least amount of attention in the round table
Well id say in reality is fox who seems missing from the table since she joined anabada.Author doesn't give even a glimpse of her reaction info she gives or anythingโฆ is like she is not even there
Think about it, evil spirits have different bodies than the one that they were born with. That might make a difference in one of two ways. 1) evil spirits may retain their memories. If it affects the body someone was born with and the mind works like a controller, if the controller is fine itโs no problem. A normal person on the other hand is lake a game character and is effected by the memory wipe. Like a glitch. We have evidence of this with the memory pill byorn took once, it had no effect.2) an evil spirit may act like a save file and retain their memories AND essenceโs. As both partain to the soul. Either way he would lose the barbarian seals.
the seals are engraved into his body, so what makes you think he would lose them? theyre tattoos? those cant be lost. also all thats mentioned as being lost is affinity stats or like, frienship stats, and other values, those arent clearly defined, but given its memories, frienship and relationship stuff, i dont think physical stats or essences are affected. Also, i wrote a comment up above but i came to the conclusion that i dont think evil spirits can retain their memories, cause even Leatlas said it would be the wrong ending, and losing his memories would change bjorn as a person immensely, so that, to me, increases the chances of evil spirits losing their memories on use. along with that is the Chief, who, functionally, is the same as evil spirits in this instance, so if he is afraid of memory loss, that further increases the chances of it affecting him or other evil spirits
though, thinking on this idea more, i dont know if Baek hoo could even know that for sure right? given this item, the conditons to acquire it must be immensely steep, and therefore, we can assume this is the only one that Baek hoo has or has ever had. the stone was said to have 2 uses, but i doubt Baek Hoo would use one for testing and give the other to misha for the potential chance at using it on Bjorn. Though i guess we cant fully exclude the chance he has gotten another one before this for testing, or that there was 3 uses, Baek hoo lied, said there was 2, and used the 3rd for the test for this effect. But anyway, if this is the only one Baek Hoo has had in this world, and there are only the 2 stated uses, and as of now, none are used, then all his knowledge of its use comes from the game, so we can assume in this case, that Baek Hoo would not know what memories, if any, would be retained, and likely would be forced to assume that all of them are erased, Unless, for example, there was someone else he came into contact with over the 10 years hes been in this world, who has both also gotten the stone and then used it on an evil spirit, and then that person told Baek hoo about that effect, otherwise, theres no other possible way i can think of that allows Baek hoo to know if any memories from before transmigration would be retained, so as fun as this idea is, i think the chance of it is extremly low.
If Baek Hoo believes the prophecy unconditionally maybe it doesnโt matter, as long as he thinks he can secure co-operation from Bjorn. If they have game knowledge of using them item, it may be obvious how โsevereโ the memory loss is from the party leaving event. Ultimately, Lee Hansooโs value to most players, including Lee Baek-Ho boils down two factors 1) Most knowledgeable player on Dungeon and Stone => totally irrelevant if he loses his memories as Lee Hansoo. 2) Whatever they think he will do based on prophecy => only as reliable as the source of the prophecy, which has already been bent or beaten a few times, as the goddess of fate herself just admitted, and all the players are trying to manipulate the prophecy whitespace to their advantage (from the village Chief possessing Bjornโs to escape the underground, to Baek Hoo and the administrator trying to use his preordained success as a vehicle to their own ends). Ultimately, a potentially full goo-goo gah gah level memory wipe feels much riskier than the current situation of limited cooperation for Lee Baek-Ho since heโs got the prophecy side in the bag even without wiping Bjorn/Lee Hansooโs memory.
I think is the opposite, Lee baekhoo knows from the start (through record stone) that lee hansoo / Bjorn is the โkey 2 go homeโ but as lee hansoo is compromised by his feelings of attachment to this people's world. Erasing his memories and Bjorn wandering to the Korean chat on the night of evil spirits would be almost guaranteed, manipulate Bjorn at that moment sounds as the most plausible goal
i mean, i think youre right, other than the korean chat part haha, Cant go to the Korean Chatroom if you dont know youre Korean or what Korea is anymore haha, Baek Hoo would probably find him somewhere else though and do exactly that
Do you think it I'll be a memory wipe as hard as to forget your native language or how to walk? Because at that point LeehansooBjorn would be a babyโฆ Usually in movies, or fiction stories, you forget who you are, but retain motor function, native language, and basic concepts like what is the sun for instanceโฆ
i mean, we have no way to know, and what would be considered his โnative tongueโ at this point? he just, Knew how to speak the language here right on arrival right? the native language of the body hes in, the language he speaks every single day here, and uses much more, is the Language of raphdonia, and the ancient language effect is magically given to him, so fuck, if anything, he could wake up only knowing ancient language. its a magical effect, so it leaving only the magical language known to him is viable as one option, but so is leaving him the native language of raphdonia, which was also imparted magically on arrival to this world
The thing is that restarting Bjorn character to cero and keep lee hansoo memories won't benefit baek ho.Hansoo would keep antagonizing him in any way he canโฆBaek ho knows Bjorn is the key he want to control the keyโฆ manipulate lee hansoo to do baek hoโs bidding can only be achieved if it's lee hansoo who disappearsโฆ
Yes, exactly! She even hesitated when saying it wasn't right. Like maybe โyes, it's not that bad of an ending, since you would still be of use knowing you will conserve most of your powerโ (well, maybe this a bit of a stretch, but that's what I think she was debating, haha). And, she also said something important, and this is definitely the reason she is saving Bjorn:
Your words have power. Youโve already slightly altered someoneโs fate once. Soโฆ
What interest could the goddess had in Bjorn without his capacity of changing fate? This kinda leans to him losing memories after the use of the stone.
Makes sense but she said โthat ending isnโt rightโ, so the other reason she might take interest is because heโs important to the โgame clearโ (one interpretation of โthat endingโ), which we already know is the case thanks to Lee Baek-ho. Thinking about the description of the resurrection stone, if Bjorn had no affinity for the residents and treated them like the typical evil spirt as โNPCโsโ it would be easy to fall into the Lee Baek-ho ending route.
Yeah, I also thought about it. I even thought that medicine was made with the resurrection stone, maybe a diluted versionโฆBut, the catch is, there is a way to bring back memories, we know that because of the dragonslayer, and knowing Baekho is with noark, he probably knows about this, so would he not have thought about this when he handed the stone to Misha? To me, he may know how the medicine works, and probably thinks it's different to the stone.
Ha! Thatโs crazy, I spitballed the idea of the Immortal King some chapters ago, on a whim, but to think he actually took over the bodies of his children. Really wonder what the other method of preserving his life was. Was there a real method, or was it just a fascade/smokescreen with someone else at the helm?
EDIT: so I went back to ch562 and I only wrote that the kings body might end up in the basement ๐
I guess my tangent of him taking over bodies to maintain his immortality might have been a bead I held in my head after allโฆ Still never would have thought it would be his own children. What other insane treasures/powers does the King/royal family have?
i mean, that doesnt exclude the existence of the Immortal Kingโs previous body being found down here actually, if you think about it, it actually makes the chance of finding a former body of the Immortal king, HIGHER, cause there was multiple bodies that could have been lost.
Since I read your comment, I've been thinking about the kingโs powers. And I have a question that may be linked to this.Since when evil spirits from other worlds started appearing in Raphdonia?Could it be that it was after the village chief stole the royal relic? There is something else too, did the king already have the power to make natives submit with his aura at that point, or did he gain it after he lost the relic? I don't think it would be easy to steal that relic if he had that kinda power at that point. So maybe both of these, and maybe even more unknown powers, came as a consequence of this theft. And the one that could've made it possible, and immediately comes to mind, is Auril Gavis.
Maybe the reason Evil Spirits are vilified is because that power to make natives submit doesnโt work on Evil Spirits? Maybe Auril knew this and sought to find others from other worlds that might be able to deny the royal family and kind, and eventually open the way to the abyssโฆ
We gained a bunch more insight and confirmed another one of my predictions that the resurrection stone will eliminate all of his essences and abilities. The memory reset was unexpected though.
โฆalong with all their accumulated affinity stats and other values.
I think this is talking about affinities like divine power, or soul power and things he has accumulated, but it doesn't say it's essences or the barbarian's tribe tattoos. And I think that's why this is perfect for Baekho. He would have an almost complete Bjorn, without having to deal with Bjorn at all.
I'll try to explain a little more about this reasoning.First, the village's chief doesn't have the essences his legends talk about. This makes me think essences are tied to a body, and not a soul (we also saw how the chief used Bjorn's abilities in the prediction of the goddess).Second, we really don't know about the subtleties of the stone. Like for example, what if it's not about memory loss, but about the soul.If it's about the soul, it could mean the stone just makes a new soul and put it in the healed body, nd that would explain why accumulated things like memories are reset. If it's a different soul, then the experiences it had are lost, and this makes the item scam. It only revives the body.So tying these things together, it makes more sense to think the essences and things tied to the body aren't lost, unlike things related to the soul. That's what I thought, but, well, it could be wrong, who knowsโฆ
well Bjornโs plan in this chapter follows the logic that essences are linked to the body, since he proposed the village chief use Jeromeโs essence to escape.
i took this as friendship and relationship affinity stats, since losing memories would affect relationships with other people more than anything else, and Bjorn has mentioned relationship stats in the past
I agree with this, I think heโll retain his main stats and essences, but lose his friendship, relationship, fame, karma, and honor stats. The game is pretty detailed with their stats after all.
Yup, with this lee baek would have absolute control over bjorn since he is the only one capable of helping him regain his stats, as far as I can remember at least
Hmm I had previously thrown out a theory of the stone only resurrecting Bjorn Jandel and not bringing back Lee Han Soo but maybe the resurrection is similar to Gantz? The mind that is brought back is the mind which was originally transferred into that world. Like imagine a fresh Lee Han Soo scrutinizing his death and just changing his entire gameplay ๐ฅน
I knew there was a catch – that man does nothing arbitrarily, he always has an angle. Andof course* Mishawould have known none of this and would have just wanted to save Bjornโฆ only to have the horror of him forgetting her and resetting his mind. Then* Baek-ho would step in amd have another chance to control Bjorn/Lee HansooEdit: fixed typos
It I'll be awesome if lee hansoo takes this to his advantageโฆ like after escaping with his memories acts like he doesn't have them anymore, in the Korean chat, and gets all the sauce from lee baek ho.Something like how to get out of the city, or an alchemist so the barbarian city on the basement islands can be accomplishedโฆ
Or it may work like a Harry Potter kind way when he is resurrected cuse why not? It is a good guess make baek ho spill everything thinking bjorn is just a new Lee hanso or we just expect it.
That's what makes this a good read, there aren't many โtrueโ evil people here, they all have reasons, but undoubtedly, the biggest villains are the royal family and Auril Gavis. Though, they too probably have their reasons, still it's always been, and it's always gonna be about survival for our boi. ๐
this isnt really a team up by Bjornโs choice to be fair, i dont think Bjorn would consider this under literally any other circumstances, but right now, hes tied up, the Chief is threatening to kill him or take his body, i mean, what else could Bjorn reasonably do at this moment, he knows theres no reinforcements coming, and also the Chiefโs power was established earlier on very clearly
So it really was an item linked to his evil spirit ritualโฆ
Well, this makes things interesting.
Still, the one thing that convinced him was the resurrection stone, so that was the drawback, and the reason Baekho gave it to Mishaโฆ it all makes sense now.
All our theories about the stone are void now, but this is also a great outcome!
Yeahโฆ but to be honest, who can predict a goddess intervention. Not only it saved Bjorn from Baekhoโs trap, it also showed him Misha has the stone. Talk about ridiculous from his perspective ๐คฃ
also, since this means Bjorn now knows about the stone and Misha, that means we should hopefully see Bjorn directly confront misha about it, cause im sure she doesnt know about the memory wipe, i have no Doubt in my mind that Baek hoo told her that the stone would save Bjorn, all of him, including memories, and did this to make her want to use it, to then get a Bjorn that he can mold as he wishes into his perfect ally. What Baek hoo fails to realize I think is just how much of Bjornโs strength comes from his memories, his mentality, and more of those intangible things tht cant be truly taught.
Damn, you are throwing her under the bus here ๐คฃThen, let's stretch this into more ridiculous territory. What if Misha did die, and Baekho used the stone on her, implanted memories, and is using her like that? IIRC, the stone has two uses, though I may be wrong about that. ๐ฑ
It's crazy to even consider, ๐คฃBut, well, we all are thinking Baekho got the stone from their recents outings, but what if he had it since a long time agoโฆ He's so strong I wouldn't rule out that possibility. And he may have even used it once, with disappointing resultsโฆAfter all, let's be honest, Baekho immense information seems to be coming from his experiences and years in this world. Sure, he played the game, but even the incredible persistent Bjorn said the stone was incredible hard to getโฆ So, yeah, crazy guy
Do you think heโll tell Misha the truth about the stone, or just get it from her and leave her in the dark?It would be hella cold, but knowing how untrusting Bjorn is, and how itโs his goto now when sussing ppl out, imagine he uses broken trust on herโฆ I think that would be the end of any budding romance between them though, like damn
i mean, he has to at least have a conversation about it. theres absolutely no chance he doesnt, hes not the type to leave something that big in the dark and untalked about, and i think mishaโs intentions arent bad, and Bjorn would likely be able to tell that if we can, so im hoping he give her some benefit of the doubt
He was probably just bewildered by Bjorn's proposal and elated from the idea of finally getting what he desired. Plus Bjorn was being pretty transparent as well
He probably had a little bit of excitement conversing with an equal explorer after uncountable years. It probably was a nostalgic catharsis that hadnโt been slaked in too long.I legit bet that they become odd frenemies that help out occasionally.
Where is my next episode ๐ข
This chapter actually cleared up a big question I had which was how hard does it have to be to get the resurrection stone if Bjorn only obtained it once even though he obtained the essence from the 5th floor lord 300 times.

But it seems like he obtained it that one time and then after trying it out realized it was useless and never attempted to obtain it again. For all we know he probably could have obtained it dozens of times if he wanted to.
Lore bonus, f*** yea.
Could he maybe use the record stone to restore his stats and abilities after the resurrection stone? He didn't know about the record stone in the game so it makes sense that they would combo together.
