The key item that removes the mind control gene is single-use, and can be used by only one person. Typical for Dungeon&Stone. And itโs on the the Basement Floor 1, which means it does not regenerate – you drop it into the sea, you will never get another chance, and no one else can get it as well. The Library Island is also unusable now, because Bjorn took Hamsiki with him.

Ok seriously, really interesting and curious chap – Bjorn's body has been purged, we see how Dopples are created and destroyed with automated alchemy, and somehow Bjorn was put in stasis while his body was purged, for about 10 days.
Did the survey team go to look for another entrance after losing Bjorn for so long, or did something happen to them/encounter another set of monsters, or something else? Hopefully all is well with the crewโฆ
Lastly, man, Bjorn has really gone full Flintstones BamBam mode, destroying the science lab
i doubt they would leave no one there at that entrance, even if people were sent to find another, people are known to vanish into rifts and other locations for months are a time without access to leaving and that time scales can be wonky, so theres no sense in not leaving at least a couple people there, especially for your commander, so there must be something bigger at play, either something forced them out by force and scaring them away, something could have mind controlled them and sent them out, they could all have been killed(this one seems least likely ngl), everyone could have been captured by a group of Dopplers that arent as messed up as most maybe, and are more similar in intelligence to normal people, maybe the robots are acting up and capturing people also, theres honestly alot of things that i can think of that can go wrong that could explain where they are and that Bjorn could then overcome to save majority of the group somehow, we still dont know the rules of this Look a like Field also, there may be something else going on and if it was a field archive, i know Gray mentioned random swapping of Biomes, so its possible they were swapped into another Field, im excited to see what the actual truth of the matter is
also a possibility! maybe a Doppler was made of him and replaced him! maybe the dopplers can potentially maintain a set look for a short period of time before degrading into the state we saw the others in!
So basically the kings commands will no longer work? If all the races other then humans were created then they had input that gene into them to be controlled by the king. With removing the gene now only him and Amelia may be safe. But does this mean the crown of torment will also work for it or not due to it not being a mental attack or holy power but instead something on the level of a concept imprinted on the soul? It's getting very interesting but I really don't want to see something happen which will make Bjorn choose between Misha or Erwin with the crown, if it works.
It certainly looks like that. He is gathering the pieces for a rebellion to be feasible, and i wonder if it all is controlled by the eternal Sage aka Auril Gavis. He helped them unlock this hidden floor by coating the daggers with goblin poison that the attackers used when attempting to interrupt the dreadfear raid. And kept Amelia away so the scenario got โforcedโ unlocked. Bjorn only knew about the other 5-man scenario that he was trying to accomplish, but Gavis made it happen. He is twisting the story and making Bjorn stronger for something
Btw I just noticed something on a reread – when they first met dreadfear in the final phase, he said โone star, one sun, one moonโ, and then the key to opening the portal to the basement were the keystones of sun, moon, and star. The church worships the gods and goddess of the sun (Tobera), moon (Heindell), and star (Leatlas). This cant be a coincidence, and wholly interesting that on a statue of the Witch (Earth Mother), a scripture of the gods is written. Even though the Empire and the church were after the Witch and vilified herโฆ what if it was all fabricated and they instead made use of the Witch instead? Then made up a story of how she was evil for the history books in order to define a common enemy. Furthermore, what if the Witch's cure didnโt come from the Witch, but was actually caused by the Empire, or at least someone in league with dark priests?
That does make sense. Personally I was under the impression that the witch is a victim the more we learn about her. And with her telling Bjorn not to open the abyssal gate, it makes me think that she was trying to keep something locked away within it and that's why when they finished the game it said the โtutorialโ was over because the main point of the game is what's behind the gate. Just speculation but if the tribal chief was playing himself in the rift and he was one of gavisโs companions then could the brother of the witch who went to learn magic be him? We really don't have much to go off of based on the time period. I really want him to finish the basement rift story for all the juicy info we'll get
Iโm with you, and I too think that the Witch's brother could be the great sageโฆ whether or not that great sage ends up being auril gavis or not (having taken over his body).I'm also hoping this is the last island they explore before they leave, since weโve everywhere else at least once before (that we know of)
Ideally it will be the last island. Despite the village chief giving Bjorn the journal he doesn't truly know when he'll escape the basement. The only indication would be what islands had the portals. The rainbow one has a portal heading down I believe but Bjorn doesn't meet the requirement for the second level of the archive, so it sounds like we have some more traveling after he finds out what happened to his comrades. That may be what the basement rift could achieve too. But the village chiefs Island has the portal which may only open with the dimensional collapse, but we don't know if it's the only way. And the portal stone they found on the island where he used the necklace. All in all it's been a good exploration but there are a lot of things that can be resolved within the basement still. And Bjorn could easily gather the fragments again to retry the basement after informing Melbes and receiving more support.Personally the author is doing a great job and I'm hooked and I'm very thankful for the translator who works to make it readable for us. It's been a long basement adventure but I'm not disappointed at all honestly.
Also I can't believe I hadnโt even considered that gavis could have used magic from another world to possess somebody who may be a better vessel for magic but his control would be better, enabling him to create dungeon and stone and migrate it across worlds.
me and Blue talked about this concept before in a previous chapter, but we must remember that evil spirits, as we know them now, only started around 200 years ago in universe, but we dont know how things worked before then, and Blue and I theorized that it may be possible that Gavis was the one to somehow set up that system of Spirits showing up only when a body is age 20, and that Gavis may have either come here into the body of the Old Great Sage, or some other point in that timeline, and taken control, and somehow set up the spirit system for his own ends. We know that Gavis said that he knew a spirit from another world was the one destined to open the abyss gate, which he wants for something, he didnt know who that person was, just that they came from another world, so he needed to make a system to 1) allow for the transfer of many people, to speed up and increase the chances of him finding the right person in the multiverse for what he wants and what is Written and Recorded on the stone, and 2) encourage them to go for the Gate with a promise that it will return them to their home. he needs that Macguffin to guide them to the gate and open it, and also to make them Want to leave, so what does he do?He makes them arrive at age 20, the Prime of the bodies life. The point at which it is the most emotionally harmful for the originalโs loved ones to know the person is replaced, AND old enough that the Spirit cant ease in super easily and just take their place seamlessly like a person could if they entered a babies body, or a young child. Where a person could just join this world like they were always a part of it. It forces the spirits to live a solitary life, and either pretend to be someone they arent and risk their life everyday, or cut all contact, dive into the Labyrinth and try and get home. It forces the Spirts into a position of despair and unease, it makes it difficult for them to mesh with this world. There Must be a reason that the Spirit system works as it does, otherwise why was it different 200 years ago. And Gavis is seemingly much much older than looks suggest, he is powerful beyond measure, and we know that heโs aware of the Record Fragments, so he may not even technically BE 200 years old himself, he could be History Hopping with the fragments, collecting them, and using them as a means to access various points in time, We know he can act like he does or doesnt know someone as he needs due to the Round table incidents in the past both before and after the time travel arc, so Gavis IS aware of how to act like hes not of the time he is currently in. He was VERY familiar with the concept, and always said heโs seen the records, That may be more literal than we think. He could have taken the Body of the Great Sage way back in the past, either during or sometime after, or hell maybe even before, the event with the Witch, and maybe, she knows that her brother, the Great Sage, was taken over by someone, and he needs her for something.Sorry lol, know its alot
Ashlen, you deserve full credit for brainchilding this theory about Gavis taking over the great sages bodyI agree that isekai-ing at age 20 leaves little room to live a comfy life, and it also offers the least amount of dillydally before entering the labyrinth, the real goal of GavisIโve been looking at Gavisโ actions to try and decipher his true goal(s)โฆHe community to help players share info and advance further, but canned it because it became a crutch, making players feel at home. He pushed Bjorn to unlock the basement, allowing him and team to massively grow in strength, and unlock more secrets. He helped Noark escape defeat at the hands of the Royals in order to maintain the conflict between the factions, keeping the kingdom in check, and likely helped them get to directly to the 7th floor of the Lab, allowing Noark forces to enhance.Heโs seen numerous record stones, and has been looking for he who is foretold to open the door to the abyss. We currently suspect it is Bjorn, but there could be a twist.I feel like he's playing a massive game of chess, trying to control the pieces while guiding the chosen one along a set path.I also feel like, end game, Bjorn and Lee baek-ho might end up as two sides to the same coin
thats a really interesting concept tbh, since if the rest of the races are somehow built off of Barbarians, and humans can also handle the various powers that the elves use, and such, in rare cases, then yeah, i cant see why Bjorn, as a Barbarian, who seemingly are connected to the rest of the races as a genetic nexus point, wouldnt be able to use those abilities at some point. It would be really late game i imagine to start unlocking them, but it would make sense in some ways too to be able to gain certain exclusive abilities, though i imagine it could end up limited to one specific racial trait somehow, to allow the other characters to remain relevant
Would be crazy for sureSomwhow I feel Bjorn will stick to his tank base even if he gets other race powers/engravings since it is such a solid concept. If anything maybe he might increase his damage for 1v1s he might eventually have, like if he has to face Baek-Ho or Gavis, or the King. Then again, I doubt his companions would let him fight alone, as he always says, Dungeon and Stone is a team game
oh for sure, if this happened, he would likely get the racial skills that complement his tanker build somehow, he cant be a solo ever, just not how these things work, but i wouldnt be surprised if there was a way for him to get singular parts of it to benefit his build, and hell, maybe the other races can potentially do similar as well, they are all techinally connected still in this theory, so they may be more limited in options than barbarians, but i wouldnt doubt they have some routes that could unlock the racial skills of maybe an opposing race or maybe some neightboring race, if we consider that they may somehow be arrayed in a hex or pentagon shape around humans or barbarians like how games can class and connect things. Somewhat like the Nen Wheel if you know HxH. or none of this matters and its all just fun theories
