Rotmiller would've had more of an impact because heโ€™s the only non human to create a successful, novel, business centered around helping early explorers. What if he expanded his scouting business to helping new explorers in a wider variety of ways, loans, important early knowledge from Bjorns endless vault, farming help (carry runs for xp), build reccomendations from Bjorns endless vault, etc. Fast forward just 5 years and Bjorn has endless connections to draw upon. Rotmiller being not a human means heโ€™ll stay even when the gate closes, so heโ€™d impact the world for decades. The king has had IV drips of human knowledge shaping his world for decades; how little of the world was thought of by NPC's?

  2. Iโ€™m starting to really dislike this guaranteed fate/record stone shit. At first it was just โ€œoh okay so everything is literally set in stone and their is one future and the only way to change fate is to trick the worldโ€, but now itโ€™s more โ€œAuril Gavis is actually doctor strange and has seen every possibility of the future and Bjorns choices are making genuine changes to the outcomeโ€ฆโ€

    1. What i dislike the most is the fact that the big players are playing a game and Bjorn feels like merely a piece on a chess board. We donโ€™t know even the capabilities of these guys like Auril Gavis and the king and how much they know.

  3. My guess is that because Rotmiller survived the forest thanks to Bjorn showing up to save him the Goddess never needed to step in to save him, and then she used up all her divine favor making Sven Parav into a Saint which then meant later on when he was carting around Bjorn that she could no longer help him. Thatโ€™s the only reasonable explanation I can think of that would indicate why Rotmiller would have ultimately lived while Sven would have died had Bjorn not showed up to save him. I see some people who theorize that one more less actively prominent character will die and then one major companion like Erwin or Aynar, and I think the base format is right but I fear the specifics will be something far worse for Bjorn, something more targeted at his core. I think the remaining members of Team Loser, Hikurod and Misha, are going to die. He will try to save them, and they will sacrifice themselves to save him instead. Just like Rotmiller did.

    1. Do you even know what that paper is? Itโ€™s his ex writing on it, and it shows up on his side as well. How he couldโ€™ve used it before to save anyone is beyond me

      1. Your late to the party lol, the point is: the number of times Bjorn has been isolated from his clan or needed info, any of them could have used this to send brief messages. Author only brings it up as a plot device when it should technically exist/ be accessible for anyone to use for any number of situations. Hope this clarifies.

  5. Copy and pasted over yesterdayโ€™s post slightly edited as itโ€™s all still relative.

Looks I was on the money crew. Whoโ€™s death flag do want me to raise next?

The author clearly is focused on killing off โ€œuselessโ€ characters that will help develop the plot more, characters that have served their purpose by now and can exit stage left.

Rotmiller, o7, was the easy one to kill off. If the author respects the world heโ€™s built heโ€™s going to kill off another easy/ mid and someone really valuable. Likely will be saving private ryan scenario where they go to save one and lose another.

    Easy ones: dwarf, bear

Mid ones: someone that survived ice rock like the knight or the dragon girl that worked for the Marquis (she could even be the one that betrays Bjorn)

    Valuable: elf or aynar

Elf princess because her screen time has been really low lately (canโ€™t remember her name itโ€™s been so little) and if she does we will finally see deer mask as a result in the flesh.

Aynar they could possibly decapitate in a scene similar to GoT with the slave women that Dynarus dragon lady liked to kick off that battle for a final clash.

Personally I think elf princess will get killed, get stone resurrected, and as a result deer mask will finally get introduced into Bjorns favor for saving her. Then we will get the elf arc we have been missing, more blessings, and allies.

Whether she falls back in love with him and/or rejoins their ranks as an explorer will be another thing.

I will say if the only way they can hurt Bjorn at this point is spamming royal family great 3 weapons they are kinda writing themselves into a hole. Iโ€™m expecting another time skip once this is all over.

  6. [Take good care of Miss Shabin. Sheโ€™s a good woman.]

I have a feeling that mightโ€™ve been one of the reasons why Rotmiller couldโ€™ve been โ€œmore importantโ€ to the story over-all according to Auril. Pretty sure she might quit and that will cause problems.

I wonder if Auril will try to interfere again?

    1. Oh man, maybe he could have been the father to one who might shephard a new era? Thatโ€™s what stood out to me after reading your commentAlso, im really tottering on grasping Auril's alignment. Obviously he has his own agenda, but at times the agenda seems to be of Bjorn's benefit, and other times, rather sinister. I do place him on the same level as the king and the witch, as in maybe they are all pulling strings on the same world board, where all recognize Bjorn as an important piece and each aim to sway him one way or anotherโ€ฆ

  7. rubs temples* ok so every story I read right now is in this extended period where the hero either doesnโ€™t get to win or if they do its a pyrrhic victory and itsโ€ฆ.driving me insane. I need a protagonist I care about, a SINGLE ONE to have a decisive accomplishment. Like I'm old enough to know narrative structure, you cant have someone start and stay on top because they would have nowhere to go, but at some point I also grow tired of โ€œand then life kicked him in the ribs like he was the printer from office spaceโ€ times infinity. like, is anyone else feeling despondent knowing we still have two more deaths?

    1. Nope just the opposite. They are all chess pieces on the board. So far Bjorn has been like Orcbolg, ordinary in every way, granted with a wealth of knowledge but he has to actually act on everything he does. What makes One Piece great is that characters, everywhere and at anytime no matter how valuable, die a lot despite how positive it is the over arcing of the plot is. Itโ€™s whatโ€™s lets the characters endlessly grow. Just in this case, everyone and thing plays a supporting role to Bjorn. Having two possible deaths is something to look forward too because everyone else is actually living in this world except Bjorn with plot armor.Iโ€™ve already put forward my guesses. An important line to note is Gavisโ€™s comment about peasant to king. This world only has one king technically but after this shitshow, a lot of civilians and nobles would have died, losing the royal more trust than they have lost thus far. Wouldnโ€™t be too surprising if districts started raising new king candidates.

    2. I agree with Trev, I think it is great storytelling – its compelling and leaves us guessing, as we all come up with theories which could be equally right or wrong. Has me at the edge of my seat, uncomfortable as it isAlso, not its not two more deaths, but at least two more deathsโ€ฆ nothing is guaranteed

    3. honestly? I have a deep feeling that he might actually โ€œbreakโ€ fate and that will change everything. Or maybe we will have to suck up for 2 more deaths :I
