Ok a lot of exposition here, but not a lot of questions fully answered. Similar to the concept of conservation of energy, the Power of Origin can be used to make full fledged dimensions, but doing so transfers the power out of the source dimension into the new one. This could explain the gray world outside the city being the Power of Origin slowing draining away from Raphdonia, either back to the higher dimension (though that seems unlikely), into the new Labyrinth that Explorers enter, or maybe into one of the big three players of the grand game (Earth Witch, Auril Gavis, and the King). The Earth Witch is an anomaly even to the creators of the Labyrinth, born(?) with the Power of Origin that was siphoned into the Labyrinth. We still don't technically know how Auril Gavis is tied up in all this, but it seems likely he is the lead architect of the Labyrinth. The King of Raphdonia very well could be the original king that ordered labyrinthโs creation. The world itself trying to kill him could be an effect of Karui (the god gone rogue), a curse from the Earth Witch, or perhaps just one of the errors that began once the Labyrinth overshadowed the โreal worldโ.
This conversation should hopefully be the catalyst for Bjorn being able to ask the bigger questions and get more detailed information from the people who know a lot. And I think he's smart enough to be able to piece together what's going on given enough time and a few more clues.
What you said makes sense. IIRC It was also mentioned many chapters ago that the labyrinth feeds on the lives of people. The king also tried to say in a way that he was not the bad guy. It could be that when the curse (gray world) is getting too close to Raphdonia, the royal family triggers a mass death situation like a dimensional collapse on purpose to restore the power of the Origin and make the curse recede.
Iโd think that the gods of the raphdonian world are the creators of that labyrinth, at least that much is suggested here. Iโd wager that Karui is the Empireโs king, he seems to have more control than the other gods, either way he seems to play a central role, like his hearts do.
Gavis seems indeed involved with the labyrinth project, it would explain how he could create the sub dimension for all Evil Spirits.
They probably shifted most of the raphdonian world into the second labyrinth, cut it up in floors and let it reset regularly to try to contain and limit the occuring โerrorsโ and irragularities.
This is much closer than we've ever been, so I'll take it. Raphdonia is the created world in the labyrinth. The labyrinth is a labyrinth inside of a labyrinth. The power of the origin is beyond the abysmal gate (assumed). The pilgrims scattered through out the labyrinth protect the power of the origin – these seem to be floor lords and hidden bosses. My mind keeps going back to that last rift in the basement, with the witch, the king, the wizard brother, the cleric, and the warrior. If those events were true, perhaps that was a former iteration of Raphdonia, which survives today due to the housing the internal labyrinth, the key to the power of originโฆ and at those events, maybe they found the heart of the originI suspect evil spirit summoning is one of the anomalies, and that Gavis might be making use of the phenomenon and banking on them (and training them via the game) in order to eventually reach the power of originโฆ Sorry this is long enough already
