I genuinely do not like Bjornโs hate for Baek-Ho or at least how the author puts so much emphasis on it. At one point, we get it. Baek-Ho is scum but you donโt have to say it in 20 different variations on why you think he is scum. You could argue it shows how Bjorn has become more instinctive rather than rational but the guy lately has been all trying to find any feeble scenario to fight Baek-Ho. With the Dragonslayer, it at least seemed like he was making it a goal to avenge Dwalki eventually and same with Corpse Collector for Erwinโs sister.
I think its a similar vengeance goal with Baek-Ho, but with a bit moreโฆ i think Bjorn feels really betrayed by Baek-Ho. The guy really tried to wine and dine him and act like his best friend, only to get close enough to take away some of Bjorn's most precious resource, his companionsโฆ worse yet – with the excuse of doing it to โhelpโ him.It rings heavy, especially knowing that they are both countrymen, and I guess Hansoo had hoped there would be a shared understanding. I think at some level, there is, but that might be why it rings deeper. Also remember, before the transfer into Raphdonia, Hansoo did not let ppl get close and held everyone at arms length. I think part of the anger is also at himself for feeling like he allowed Baek-Ho the room to do something like that.Bjorn has become a lot more emotional, especially seeing where he's come from, and it is seeping into some of his decisions, even as a rational person – he's been acknowledging this in the work. Itโs part of his character progression from the distant, calculating player, now faced with the higher stakes of the game and the reality of how it affects real people.
I get what you mean but at the same time, the last time we saw Baek-Ho, he killed 2 of the Anabada clan members. Bjorn cherishes all his clan members a lot (not as much as the Team 1 crew but theyโre more than friends) so it does make sense that now that he sees him again, heโs even angrier than last time. He doesnโt care much if something happens to just him, heโs a tank, heโll tank it. But it crosses his trigger line if you try to harm his companions.
So interesting how the Floor Lord was able to see Bjorn in his incorporeal form. There's definitely an in-lore explanation for that
Also, when the chap started, I really thought we were getting an alternate POV from Baek-Ho's team. Ah well, at least we're getting a reunion next chapter ๐
