  1. It was pretty suspicious for a royal mage to misjudge their aim and almost behead Erwin x) she'd be the biggest AOE threat for them once they decided to attack Bjorn. Plus the blues attacked right afterwards? Boo! ๐Ÿ‘Ž Plus, the timing just feels really off. They went on the island right when the rainy season ended this time but last time, the village chief said he just needed to keep them in the village for a little more time, and this was right before the rainy season ended. Current suspicious points: rainy season, immortal bodies, (suspected) portal, bodily possession, chief x Jerome, the chief thinking Bjorn has everything in the palm of his hand, plus whoever (probably auril) got him access to the basement definitelyโ€ฆ something lol (can someone finish that thought?)

  3. My theory is that while they were on library island the village leader flew down to island and took over the captain. Thatโ€™s why parab had the new dream about the captain killing bjorn in the village because the goddess was warning him about the captains betrayal/possession. So when the current โ€œcaptainโ€, asked Bjorn to lead into the village it was a ruse and he already separated the squads during the chase, so Iโ€™m sure in the next chapter itโ€™s going to be a blood bath.

    3. i dont think it was then, they waited at the edge of this island for the rainy season to end, what better time to sneak on land then right when theyre already there and Bjorn and Co was already told to rest and wait, Chief was right there, plus we saw Bjorn make the specific distinction of not just asking if Saintred has met the Chief that day, into before that encounter, cause i think Bjorn thought of that same thing, he realized it was possible that Saintred had talked to the Chief literally right before battle and chasing him down, and thats why he phrased it the way he did. I think if Bjorn hadnt corrected his wording, then Saintred could have said No. If it was technically in the last 24 hours, then Saintred could have said No when Bjorn asked, but the correction allowed Bjorn to be more sure. And i feel like its a hint to us as readers for when their interaction happened. Also Saintred answered Yes to his name being Jerome Saintred, and we know from Library island that while possessing someone, you cant lie about your name, thats how Bjorn found the spy at Library island before. So Saintred is for sure not possessed right now given that answer

      1. Good call, this is entirely possible, possibly most probable, and probably the most plausible. ๐Ÿค“Iโ€™m really curious as to what the chief would have said to convince Saintred, but like I said in another comment, it must have been substantial enough (maybe treasure for this kingdom, or a secured way out of the basement) to be tempting, coupled with Saintredโ€™s own suspicion of Bjorn = Iron Mask. Maybe he was thinking, someone else coming back as Bjorn might be less of a danger (or trouble) to the royals, or perhaps that this might be a justifiable excuse to kill Bjorn (now that he is possessed), and backstab the chief. Curiouser and curioser

        1. i mean, the Chief has ancient knowledge, so maybe theres some info that the royal family lost over generations, something wildly important, that the Chief knows, or maybe he knows a lot of stuff, and given the stuff with saintred not liking bjorn already, could easily just be using this as a tool to remove Bjorn And recover ancient lost knowledge that will serve the King

          1. Possibly, though I do feel the royal family would have solid records under vault. Still, having an ancient in Bjorn could make sure a good interegation target. Actually scratch that – with Bjorn's resistances, he might make a difficult interegation target.

          2. oh god, i dont think it will happen, but the thought of the Cold, Emotionless Village Chief, with the Mental Defenses of Bjorn, and all the resistances, is kind of terrifyingโ€ฆ.. and oh!! what if its not ancient knowledge, but something lost in a previous Dimensional Collapse! If there was something, or hell even Someoneโ€™s body, sent into the labyrinth in the past, and dimensional collapse happened, then its entirely possible that the Chief ended up with it, so combine that potential with ancient knowledge, and I can see a world where the two could barter, cant wait to find out what happened. Ngl, i hope its a corpse. theyve all been shown to be perfectly perserved and i think it would be really interesting and a bit dark to see how a corpse could potentially be that valuable, we already know that Barbarian hearts are somehow a magic ingredient, so maybe something along those lines in the body of someone long lost?

          3. โ€ฆ what if it was the body of the previous immortal king? I remember there was an Easter egg that Dungeon and Stone was released right after he died (~150 yrs prior), so maybe thereโ€™s some prominence to his body?

  4. Iโ€™m guessing Jerome met the chief when he appeared back in the city some time before we got the way to the basement floorโ€ฆ

  6. Just when? I mean, they were basically together 24/7

    1. Not necessarily. They were in the same space, but just how Bjorn was able to sneak off and meet with Hamsiki, Saintred could have met with a disguised chief (or his messenger). Likely the chief is setting up a trap for Bjorn, and saintred gets his revenge (on Bjorn)

      1. also remember that Saintred ordered them to wait at the Islandโ€™s edge for the rainy season to end. and there are multiple ships, If bjorn and Saintred were on different ones, it would be all too easy for Saintred to have sneaked off the ship onto land i think. They were together most of the time, but that time while waiting for the rainy season to end already seemed really sus to me. Saintred didnt need to go early, and his reasoning for โ€œdealing with the rainy seasonโ€ were kind of bullshit seeming. if the chief had somehow sent a messager to Saintred, they could have planned to meet up and try to turn on Bjorn, since we all have theorized that the Chief wants Bjornโ€™s body, so if thats true, and Saintred also wants to get rid of Bjorn, maybe Saintred wants to let bjorn get taken over, and framed it to the Chief as wanting to allow him to take Bjornโ€™s place, letting the chief escape, and intends to betray the chief after and have him killed, which could be why we saw the execution, where Bjorn(possessed) is killed by saintred in this series of events, as a plot by saintred to take both advantage of the chief to kill bjorn in a way thats not directly his fault for purposes of public opinion on the matter

      1. jerome helping the chief to steal bjorn body thats why he told his army to kill all the blue ones but the chief then they would use bjorn in the chief body to learn everything about him and take over his life this would help the kingdom rule over the barbs the kingdom prob always knew where the dragon rider was just not how to reach him now they are trying to reclaim him and what gave it away is jerome saying the chief was a traitor like he was putting on a show the chief has never reacted before

        1. Most likely Jerome got to the basement floor through a dimensional collapse, meet the dragon knight and got resurrected through his essense back at the royal palace.

          1. Ah, this makes alot of sense. Honestly, Iโ€™m still confused about it all a bit. My current understanding is that the chief hasnโ€™t possessed anyone, planned to take over Bjorn, and that the chief is either helping Jerome explicitly or Jerome is somehow aware of the body transfer mechanic and using Bjorn as a sacrifice for his own ends. Likely to extract him from the basementโ€ฆJerome could also be taken over already or somethingโ€ฆ but the chief was explicitly there, so Iโ€™m not clear on the mechanics of that.

          2. I think Saintred still suspects Bjorn being Iron Mask, but canโ€™t do anything without evidence, and heโ€™s a baron. The chief probably offered Saintred something (maybe treasures, or the way out) that seemed worth it in exchange for Bjorn's body, and they decided to collude together against Bjorn in a win-win situation for them. Saintred might still backstab the chief (in Bjorn's body) with the excuse of him taking over the baron, or maybe decide that the chief is less troublesome/a threat to the Royal throne. Either way, sucks for Bjorn unless he can find a golden path out of there. Maybe he can convince Saintred that the chief is actually a bigger threat, or convince the chief that Saintred isnโ€™t trustworthy, and get them to fight each other? Then find the way out and leave chief and saintred stranded in the basementโ€ฆ maybe
            0
          3. Haha, Leaving Saintred stranded, unable to die and resurrect in the Capital, would be the true โ€˜golden pathโ€™ you mentioned. Solving everything at once.

          4. i had a theory when it was revealed that Bjorn would be killed in the revelation, that Bjorn was gonna be captured by the Chief, and during that, reveal the revelation to the Chief, basically framing it like Bjornโ€™s body is doomed because of the execution, so that Bjorn can try and convince the chief that its better to go after Saintred instead, since we are pretty sure the Chiefโ€™s goal is escape, so if Bjorn tells the chief about the revival essence, the Chief could hear that, and the stuff on the revelation, and decide to change plans and take over Saintred, kill himself, and instantly escape the Labyrinth, and if that happens, i think we would then have the Chief be a new villian out in the wider world, which would be really fun, given hes from a different age and his knowlegde base is vastly different
            0
          5. That would be some master class Talk-no-jutsu to get out of that situation, if it works
            0
          6. and very Key. its Only Possible with the revelation existing. If Leatlas did this cause they want Bjorn alive, which is implied through Sven, that implies that, without the revelation, there was no chance of Bjorn surviving, so we have to consider what changes by bjorn having this info, and what choices open up from this info.
            0
          7. OOOhhh, that theory is really fun. I like the idea of the chief escaping with his body. That solves Bjornโ€™s big Jerome-respawning with information quandary.
