this few chapters have been so badly written that I believe there should be consecuences, and that means that although it seems that parav is going to save the day, I trully hope someone dies either way…
Look I understand that for svens skill to shine, the party should be on a desperate situation, but this one was totally fabricated by bjorns incompetence. Forget about everyone gaslighting themselves, instead of using their critical thinking, in regards of what the plan is, or how bjorn knows all of this, forget about how everyone follows whatever bjorn says like drones… Lets talk about what the fucking plan is, and lets point out first of all that skull island wasnt their main objective but something bjorn as a korean fucktwat i mean gamer, considered too good an opportunity to let pass…
so all in all the plan seems to go like this:
First we clear a rift to beat its boss in a way that we meet a special condition. Then we get a debuff that will unavoidable kill us if we do not return in 24h after killing a level 1 monster, with no mp or resources to be used during the fight. Now lets continue with the plan although there is a shady guild with 90 members stalking us, and sap our streng leaving a party member that might get killed while we are gone.
But wait! There is more! The level 1 monster has an ability that can cripple a character beyond repair! It is an ability that corrups an essence randomly and it can do it multiple times!! (affecting several essences that you wont be able to remove once corrupted). And dont tell me bjorn didnt expect this, or that the monster should be sealed, cause bjorn himself says that he tryed to use this mechanic to break characters ( and to do so you should be able to be apply this mechanic consistently) so the event of the monster using this ability should be quite likely to happen.
This is not a game anymore, there is no start over if you crpple your character… So taking all in to account this place should be avoided like the plague! But bjorn decided to throw themselves head first in this situation.
And of course, instead of crippling his character irredimably and have some of the clan members killed, Bjorn corrupted essence is going to become the most broken OP shit known to man…
This is not plot armor anymore… its more like plot tank or plot exosuit….
I’m quite worried about Amelia. She’s all alone against 89 enemy guild members. Sure she has that fancy stealth ring but you’d expect the guild that uses the item to also have something to detect it
Thanks to plot armor he’s been spared. Trying to remember what the draw backs were of Paravs ex machina skill.
He likely wants a foursome harem. Either way, he’s definitely going to have to slow down and have a recovery period. He’s been mentally unstable for quite a while as they have been hinting for a while now. Nothing fixes that better than a love arc.
to be fair, to me it doesn’t feel like he was saved by a deus ex machina, but that the author made a convoluted way to finally show Parav’s skill, otherwise he would have just made it so that Erwin’s shot kills the snake, still feels like bad writing tho
I think they were referencing deus ex machina being latin for “God from the machine”, originating from Roman plays concluding with an actor playing a god being lowered by a pulley and then resolving the conflict.
A Deus Ex Machina that was already set up, and already had been built up during this fight as Sven was prioritized as one of the more important pieces in this fight.
