Same with this guy who auto destroyed himself, the chief may also have a way to brainwash people and transform their bodies. I mean, how the heck did the monsters in the village were born?
Sure, it may be possible to create bodies with only mana stones, but what about souls??
Mana stones probably make things like the titanus with shitty AI speech… So, yeah, souls are a different matter altogether.
Also, don't you all find it weird that Bjorn has seen companions die on this floor but they didn't turn out like the corpses in the village chief’s secret hut? Well, it could be that they burned them or stored them, but It could also mean that if a body is subjected to an “evil spirit” ritual, then it keeps existing… so maybe this says that Bjorn’s and all other evil spirits bodies are still intact in their original world, right? This may give a clue to how to reverse this.
i mean, there ARE corpses from the dimensional collapse, and clearly, people have been dropped down there, So i imagine that if there were any who survived the collapse and fell down there, they have to be at a certain level of strength too, and durability. By the very nature of how people have gotten there before, so we can assume that they must be of a certain Level, but also, maybe the Chief has seen something to do with the record stone? and therefore thinks that, while these random other people wouldnt be able to get out, Knows with certainty that Bjorn might be able to? since Lee baekhoo has mentioned that Bjorn is destined to open the Abyss gate right? So therefore, he must leave the basement, So if the Chief has also somehow seen the Record Stone Fragments, maybe thats the reason for targeting Bjorn specifically? And as for the corpses from the people in the basement now that you mentioned in your followup reply, i think its probably connected to the dimensional collapse somehow, it probably did something weird to the corpses and paused them in time somehow. and since the others die normally, theres no reason they’d be affected by the same effect. As for their bodies on Earth, i dont think theyre intact over there? We got that glimpse back over there early on in the story remember? and were explicitly told that the bodies of the players vanish, and their clothes are left behind where they were, empty. So if their original body is intact, I imagine its being stored elsewhere, and not on earth, Maybe Auril Gavis has a pocket dimension where their bodies are stored?
Ohh, yeah, that's right, but there must be a place where the bodies are, since it wouldn't make sense they disappeared but players only use local people bodies. Also, yeah, that's what I thought too, since dimensional collapse doesn't discriminate, any type of explorer would be sucked in, so there should be high level ones that can survive it. About the record stone, it could be, but I'm inclined to think that he has seen hope now that people are able to enter the floor regularly.I mean, we know how hard this floor is to clear, and every exit possible seems to be blocked by insane monsters, so even if a few people survived the dimensional collapse, it wouldn't be many of them, and their synergy wouldn't be great… also, even though many of these dimensional collapses happened, enough to maybe recruit a decent team, the people who fell and maybe survived that, had to fight for their life before grouping up with others, so it's not easy to accumulate decent people to form a good raid team.But now? Yeah, now it's pretty easy. And he then meets this guy with great abilities, who is also a noble, and has a great team. It's a no brainer for him to choose our boy. So, yeah, I'm not keen on the idea he knows about Bjorn from the record stones. Though it is quite possible he knows a lot about record stones too.
Yeah! Auril Gavis says theres a way for them to return, so therefore their bodies must be somewhere. I already had this thought, but maybe theres some space in the Labyrinth basement somewhere that stores them? Or if not the original bodies of the players, maybe there are the souls of the bodies the players inhabited somewhere in the labyrinth? Or maybe Gavis has their bodies outside the city somewhere, or in another dimension entirely. Also, its possible that the method the Chief uses to swap bodies isnt infinite, or the cost to do so is great. For example. if there’s limited uses or an immense cost, The chief wont go around swapping into any random person who falls down there, no matter how powerful they are, Unless he is sure he can then escape. And also, recall the reaction the chief had when Bjorn first arrived. If we Assume the Chief, who has been around for thousands and thousands of years seemingly, HAS seen some fragments of the record stone, which i think can be considered likely given their origin, then maybe we can take the seeming expectation and awareness that the chief had on first meeting Bjorn as Knowing that, at some point, an explorer who spoke the ancient language would one day appear in the Basement and this explorer would, though unknown means, eventually leave the Basement. If you have only limited means to swap bodies, and KNOW, that this person here, Bjorn Jandel, is ABSOLUTELY, beyond a shadow of a doubt, its recorded in the Record Stone, going to one day Leave the Basement? I’d say its almost certain that the chief would try and swap bodies with Bjorn then, not because the Chief knew it would be Bjorn specifically and wants anything in particular with him, but rather, through the record stone, potentially knows that the explorer who arrives speaking the ancient language is his surefire path to escape. So therefore is willing to bear the cost to swap bodies, or risk using his last potential swap. Personally, I have a feeling the body swaps are Cost based, rather than a numbered use thing, given we saw the silver lion here, and seemingly, one of the villagers swapped into him, or someone else, not the chief though. So maybe the cost for monster souls is lower than human souls? Maybe theres some other way to make someone else pay the cost for you? They were also acting weird, so maybe the cost has something to do with memories as well, so the Chief, not wanting to lose anything without being absolutely certain, wont take that risk to swap otherwise. This all does hinge on the Chief having some knowledge of the Record stone I will say, but given that this IS the archives, i wouldnt think its a stretch to imagine there being some way to access parts of the Record Fragments and information that may otherwise be hidden. We already know the chief has hidden alot from Bjorn, so theres potentially no end to what they’ve figured out on this floor. If there have been survivors, then its possible that the Chief has managed to get info on the other islands before Bjorn came as well. We technically also no longer can say for certain that the Chief CANT use boats normally, or if that whole thing was just a lie meant to trick Bjorn into staying nearby to cooperate and learn more about him.
actually wait. The Chief FOR SURE has info on all the other islands. He sent a villager swapped into the silver lion’s body to another island. If he can do that, then if there has been any survivors in the past, the Chief would for sure have used them and the villagers to scout. If he can make the villagers pay the cost, and use them as disposable scouts, theres minimal downside for the chief. So we can assume that the Chief already knows everything about the layout of the islands. Hell, The chief may even know where the exit potentially is, but not how to open it. Theres potentially an insane amount of information the chief has and is basically manipulating things in such a way to try to get the result he wants.
If you think about it, the chief can’t leave the island, so he def needs another body to be able to escape. So he must know how to escape, he just needs the vessel to get him there. He’s been hiding a lot, that chief

Okay so I was right and the expedition as a whole is leveling up with essences Tier 4 and later on even better ones.
The village chief did probably use “that thing” he was talking about after Bjorn left the village. I assume they are gonna meet again in the not so far future after leveling up.
The next chapters in the Ghost busters World is not gonna be to exciting. I don't think anyone would have any news or Informations for the floor Bjorn is Trapped in. As long as Auril Gavis doesn't show up himself it’s gonna be rather boring.
But some news from within the City or noroaks grinding are interesting. And somebody had the guess that the village chief can take over bodies. So there you go.
