  1. So what are the odds that the same technique that AG and chief used to inhabit bodies is the same technique the king uses to get โ€œimmortality?โ€

    1. I thought they said (or alluded to) that the heart of karui that chief used, he stole from the immortal kingThe evil spirit summoning seems a bit more elaborate, though in truth, could have similar origins

  2. Some observations/questions I had after this chapter (poorly laid out in a rush)

    1. does this imply that the theory of Karui being behind the abyss gate could be correct?

    2. It seems certain that the chief is playing himself in this scenario.

    3. Maybe the witches curse is some consequence of them opening the abyss gate previously and/or attempting to.

    4. The archbishop maybe gets corrupted by Karui and becomes either a villain we havenโ€™t seen yet, or somehow messes up the party.

    5. Auril Gavis is even more likely the great sage, with the parallel of the mass teleportation and ancient magic, as well as this would give him reason for wanting to open the abyss gate.

    6. Maybe what happens is the priest betrays and then the witch is captured and held hostage by Karui while the others are cast out (maybe this is also when the chief gets banished to the basement?).

    7. If the witch is being held hostage by Karui behind the abyss gate that would explain the whole โ€œdesires convergeโ€ thing since Karui seems to be the god of fulfilling your desiresโ€ฆ. But in the worst way possible.

Anyway just some quick morning rambling before heading to work, would love to hear some other peopleโ€™s thoughts on this

    1. If the archbishop gets corrupted, man, what a powerful dark priest he would beโ€ฆ and the team would lose a powerful healer. Not certain who the chief is playing tbh. Canโ€™t rule it out, but not certain yet, could be someone else.Likely, the curse could be some consequence of them meeting Karui. Maybe they asked to make the world stop persecuting the Witch, so Karui persecuted the world, or some similar shenanigans. Or maybe they unleashed something by visiting himโ€ฆGavis and the sage could be one in the same, or he could be an evil spirit who took over the sageโ€™s body (like Ashlen suggested way back when).I wonder if Ravigion's quest for items also led him to Karui's heartKarui could be, as you suggest, the god of desires, or perhaps since the gods have celestial motifs (Tobera:sun; Leatlas:stars; Heindall:moon-possibly), maybe Karui is the god of darkness (or more fitting, the void/abyss).

      1. Great thoughts. Maybe the maze is a manifestation of a desire for having everyone understand the persecution experienced by the witch and her followers? The only sacrifice Karui took was the most of the world.

      2. Considering how over-specced Bjorn is in this scenario, losing a healer will hardly matter. Itโ€™s less combat, more unskippable cutscenes.

  3. I commented last chapter about this, but the village chief is playing himself in the rift right? Isnโ€™t that fkn weird, he definitely knows more about whatโ€™s going on but canโ€™t say because heโ€™s supposed to be saintred. Also is Auril Gavis the Great Sage??? Has this been brought up by anyone before?

    1. Weโ€™ve had a couple theories of AG = GS (great sage), whether he always was, or he inhabited his body at some point, or heโ€™s impersonating himโ€ฆ thereโ€™s still a lot of mystery there thoughWe donโ€™t really know AG's true intentions other than wanting someone to โ€œcomplete the gameโ€ in Raphdonia. I think learning some of the why behind that might help narrow down the theories

  4. This is honestly kind of boring. Going to let the chapters pile up and read in mass next week sometime.

      1. They have no idea. And i guess even if they knew, they wonโ€™t have a choice. But if anyone could resist corruption, it would be the archbishop?

        1. Maybe maybe not. Remember stats have real effects over people – like obsession does for Erwin, or luck has for Sven. 0 mental resistance when one would usually have a ton is a big nerf.

    2. Perhaps it was the reason why Jandel managed to get such a strong reaction out of him?

      1. I think thereโ€™s something else going on there. Perhaps some jealousy, anti-favoritismโ€ฆ or maybe they suspect Parab is an evil spirit and want to avoid the shame of it being known (him being a high member of their ranks)

        1. They might suspect they he's gotten revelations from the goddess and that might mean a few things only a select few know. For instance the 2 cases we know of so far are both from players. May be that only players can get these divine revelations which means the higher ups know Bjorn and Sven are evil spirits. Might also explain why evil spirits are persecuted as it's a direct way to get orders from the gods themselves and these orders may contradict what the royals want.

  9. Interesting, but somehow a little bit confusing by the parts that are missing in their memories about the main history
