  1. This is so crazy this entire time it feels like aynar was not lying when she told bjorn the barbs are the orgin race considering the vampire didnt know what bjorn was talking about when he mentioned the other races and the barbs arent amongst the races that were created by Alchemy so maybe the alchemist did succeed in creating humanoids all the other races and the reason the barbs have to breed with each other is to keep there blood line pure

    1. I do feel like there is something special about the barbarian race – when it comes to the heart research, their breeding restrictions, and the soul and soul engravings, they are distinctly unique from the other races. Also interesting that the vampire saw Bjorn as unquestionably humanโ€ฆOverall, this chap feeds the theory that the races other than human were created (perhaps via alchemy and something else?) sometime after the Witch's curse to help support the economy of Raphdonia, and the king has some untold power over them all

      1. to expand on these ideas a bit, i think humans were the true base. And barbarians were a first step into whoever it was doing this, in their attempts to create life. It seems to potentially be connected to the Labyrinth and its own creation in theory, but i digress, the barbarians have their Warriorโ€™s heart, which is both metaphorical in their bravery, but also very very literal in that their hearts are magic ingredients. Its never been mentioned but i wonder if the hearts of other species are also in any way unique or similar at all to the Barbarians hearts. Since from my understanding of the novel so far, the Barbs hearts were accidentally found to be a magic ingrediant, and they are also the ones who would be totally unable to suppress such rumors, and instead are weak/not intelligent enough compared to the other races to be considered a non threat on average by majority of them. So if there WAS anything up with the hearts or bodies of other races, its entirely possible they could use their existing power to suppress such rumors and even if there were any, its much riskier to do so to non barbarians. And if we then consider the Barbarians as the potential first step, and the rest of the races as the ones who came after in the experiments, with them building on the barbarians as their new base instead of humans, as since we know barbarians technically CAN be smart if they are just taught right, they could just outright be considered an upgrade to base humans. they are bigger, stronger, can take on most builds if the right essences are consumed, but overall their base physical specs are higher, plus theres the engravings that they can use that normal humans canโ€™t. This would then fit in line with the idea Aynar says the barbarians have passed down via stories of being the origin race, But also keeping in line with the alchemy and creation idea. What then, besides the addition of the Warriorโ€™s hearts, allowed the creations of whoever this was, (who seemingly could be the same person as whoever made the Labyrinth potentially), to diversify into the races we see today. were they all modified from the base barbarian? are there other parts that were made and altered for the other races? like their skin, muscles, or potentially other organs like the brain or something else even.

        1. I agree with humans being the originals, due to the vampire's testimony and the absence of other races during the basement rift, though iโ€™m still on the fence regarding barbarians. The only clue we have leading to the idea they are also created like the other races is the former Barb chief's account of meeting the king and the kings power over him. That and their absence in ancient times. Itโ€™s pretty good evidence tbh, but something still leads me to think barbarians are special in some kind of wayโ€ฆ maybe itโ€™s Aynar's propaganda getting to me, lol. Aside from what I mentioned earlier, I donโ€™t have anything to support thisโ€ฆ yet.Iโ€™ll put the nail in this ideas coffin if we see a precursor barbarian along with the other precursor racesโ€ฆ

          1. I wonder if these precursor races have essencesโ€ฆ.. even if they dont disappear on death like some basement monsters, we know that they could still have essences, so if they do, what will the essence of your own percursor race be??? what happens if there are precursor Barbs and a Barb eats that essence
