โi sure do love my bulletproof vest! too bad it shocks me as it saves meโฆโlike what happens if youโre still in danger after it knocks you out ;โDforced narcolepsy
I think, like Val said, the Marquis always has guards around, so I guess the idea would be that they ferry him to safety until he can recover. Itโs not as protective, but its similar to that cocoon that wrapped Regal Vagos after almost dying, except that prevented any further damage for a duration
see now that cocoon is useful cause it keeps doing shit. this is an airbag that traps you in your car after the crash. i get he always has his super guards but its weird to see him totally defenseless for an extended period. he might wake up in the royal families guillotine when he opens his eyes again, like Val said its only 5% that the effect and situation line up to save him. so many things can happen after youโre in danger once
True, but the cocoon has a similar downside – while it provides a defense against damage but keeps the user immobile, enemies can surround the user, lay traps, and be ready for when they recover. Plus, like most shields, the defense can be broken with strong enough attacks.I think for just a simple numbered item limited to a noble (non-explorer), this was probably seen as good enough, especially since it could be used to fake one's death if attackers/onlookers are unaware of the item/effect. I actually suspect this was the purpose of the assassination attempt during the construction arc.
Goodness, this arc is maybe THE MOST intense Iโve read in any series. I know the whole โset in stoneโ plot-device is a little forced, but it reallllly hits hard for every encounter.
That being said, I still believe there is the potential for a heuristic-breaking discovery, wherein the record-stones are not truly predictive and are shockingly subjective to reality. Fingers-crossed!
โThe Marquis possessed an artifact that saves its bearer from mortal danger at the cost of rendering them unconscious for two days.โ
