Side note – we got some interaction with someone from his team! Been a while.
We got some behind the scenes on some of the team through Misha which is nice. Chilling with Rotmiller and Hikurod, spending time with Shabin, art galleries and painting with Amelia, and attempts at reconciliation with Erwin. Oh and even Versil is opening up to Misha which is significant due to the whole traitor rumor.
I think the Marquis long suspected Bjorn of being an evil spirit, from the first meeting at Bjorn's first noble title naming.
Then compounded by the Eltora's blunder of trying to spy on Bjorn on the night of Ghostbusters, and the Marquisโ suspicions not being assuaged.
Plus all of his feats, antics (including the doll), and knowledge, would be suspicious enough for it to be more puzzling if he was not an evil spirit. As a clever man, the Marquis would definitely hold this possibility as high.
The question is, what is his aim now, bringing this up after thanking Bjorn and giving him the reconstruction contract? How does this change things? The way he led the topic, โknowing your character as I doโฆโ meaning he understands Bjorn well, well enough to know enough. Question is, what nowโฆ
Part of me thinks the Marquis set up the assassination attempt himself for some political reason, knowing he could just come back to life, which added to his surprise when Bjorn saved him
His plan was probably to have the assassin kill both him and the 1st place noble as โcollateral damageโ, thus making Bjorn win by default and fulfilling his promise while also tamping down on Bjorn's influence by disparaging him as someone who failed to save people right in front of him. That kind of multi layered plan is right up that snakeโs alley
โฆโฆI uhโฆโฆโฆI wasn't expecting plot to come back up so soon to be honest, he caught me off guard :l also I wanna hear how he got from โyou saved my lifeโ to โevil spiritโ
its just a small cliffhanger the autor will flatly deal with it, on next chapter, in the first paragraph or soโฆ. then he Will go on with a pointless plot for a bit until he throws another lame cliffhanger that gets resolverd almost instantly on the next chapโฆtake a look at every chapter structure since the royal assembly thats what we're getting since.
bjorn will probably just deny, deny, deny, while the marquis responds something along the lines of โwell, I canโt prove you are, and for someone in your situation, the only viable option you have would be to deny it. Thus, let me simply speak for a moment. I believe you are an evil spirit, But also that you have shown clear intent to protect the public, and now myself, when I know your greatest weakness and have the power to ruin you. Thus, I can only assume you wish to forsake your past as an evil spirit, and truly be on the Side of Raphdoniaโ and then offers some kind of binding deal that bjorn has to do maybe to prove his intentions, and have the spirit thing be fully forgotten and ignored if the right terms are met. Something along those Lines i imagine.
Basically letting Bjorn walk away never confirming, but also creating new intrigue. As for what such a deal may be? im not sure. the Marquis could possibly ask for a huge number of things. But also, the Marquis could phrase it in such a way that it implies Bjorn goes under him, as it would basically be like the Marquis placing bjorn under his direct protection to make his spirit status null and void, and as we know. Bjorn Will Not place himself under someone else willingly. So im not sure if Bjorn would take such a deal if it was presented, especially if whats required in the terms is a steep or lofty goal, no matter how potentially useful it would be.
but overall, there is no reason for Bjorn to do anything but deny here
Yeah heโs not one to show a weakness to someone he doesnโt trust without maintaining some leverage himself. I donโt think heโll admit it unless he either sees some benefit to admitting it, or feels like thereโs nothing more to gain/save by continuing to deny it. Especially if denying it might put him in a worse position. He'll likely hear out the Marquis and try to get him to reveal more before committing to a decision
I feel like this is a test. I dont think Bjorn would expose himself as an evil spirit anyway unless there is no backing down from it. He did waaaaay too much to hide it in the first place. Then again. Maybe marquis is trying to trap him with โif you expose yourself as an evil spirit, the hero of raphdonia, then the nobels will vote in favour of integrating themโ or something similar.
(Oh. maybe Marquis activated that no lie item without bjorn noticing? But he should have intel that it doesnt work.. I forgot where that got exposed or was it during the time where time got turned back? hmm)
it would be really bad if he admits to being a evil spirit to the best of my abilities i would not admit that shit even if hes 100% convince this dude tried to kill him many times behind the scenes but if bjorn admits to it he will have a reason to send people to kill him directly
Well if he goes absolute retard route as he did with the doll, then he will. But the clues points towards him despising evil spirits but we donโt know why. Maybe he figured out that his son is an evil spirit and we know how he treats his son. So nothing good will come from admitting it
i kinda disagree with admitting would be another retarded route . our boy knows that he knows he is a evil spirit . admitting wouldnโt change anything in the marquis eyes , on the contrary if bjorn could convince him that he could be like Lee Baek-ho meaning being a spirit but one that can work together with the royal family it will be perfect for him . for once our boy could live without being afraid to get hunted . and there is also the route that the author multiple times mentioned , to change how evil spirit are being seen it . if he could get the 2nd most powerful noble to endorse this i could see it being actually implemented . of course later bjorn will stab him in the back for revenge but until then having him have his back would be soo helpful
bro i think you forget that lee baek ho was literally chained up in a dugeon because of him i dont think the dude who literally has every reason to kill bjorn should know he is a evil spirit bjorn also knows how cold and calculating this dude is it is literally the worse play to admit hes a evil spirit
in details what i meant was, cause there is a possibility for the royal faction to work with spirits he should take it . working together is possible they didnโt kill baek no ? and the tower master too . especially cause the marquis is sure bjorn is one now . this is imo the best moment for admitting it . he saved the guy and he didnโt have to . i think the marquis is a pragmatic man if bjorn can convince him he wonโt go against the royals he could work with him .
yea your thinking its a good time to out himself on the premise that bjorn was thanked by the marquis and saw his emotions but you got to remember this dude is a master at manipulation also the marquis himself is blocking the way for evil spirits the marquis will never choose to work with evil spirits openly is my genuine guess bjorn would just be putting himself in a worse spot the key is to deny deny deny even if he does 100% without a doubt know because he can never prove it unless bjorn admits to it also they were using baek not for the evil spirits sake but literally to have another weapon and the only reason they didnt kill him is because they thought they had him in complete control until they let him lose and he ran off and got a new essence
Actually, Baek-ho didnโt reveal his crazy cards until he realized the royal family wouldnโt help him with his goals. After that he said โf this, iโm out yallโ and broke out. Before that he was doing their bidding, like fighting against noark. Before that he got ousted by his former teammate and captured by the royals. Also, the royals know and keep ties with a few evil spirits – likely the ghostmaster, maybe queen mask, baek ho, and possibly a small number of others
Here we go, evil spirit politics time.
The only play bjorn has here is to act outraged and confused until more info comes up
