I’m seriously concerned that their offerings to the royal family won’t be enough. Idk, i have ice rock PTSD lol. But core members also have the soul bound hidden inventories, that may come into play. Alot may have changed in the city its been half a year or more. I don’t think erasing essences will go as smooth. Unless village chief has smoothed things over exceptionally well.
honestly, i almost hope Bjorn finds some way to prevent the Royals from getting these offerings, things seem to be gearing up for rebellion, and these combo essences seem powerful, so preventing them getting to the Royal family at all is the ideal situation, though i dont know how Bjorn could safely do so without alot of other potential issues

Author hoping we forget that monsters drop an essence OR a mana stone on death.
The limitation of how many times they can cycle the tries is completely artificial since they could just recycle the dropped hybrid mana stone into its 3 parts and go again.
Fair point – only thing I might say is that I believe the hybrid monsters were generated and separated into 3 mana stones – never a hybrid stone. If that’s correct, it might be the case that a defeated hybrid monster (if it drops a stone) might only drop one of the 3 stones upon defeat. If so, then it’s not efficient as 2 stones would be lost upon defeat. Of course, this is predicated on the idea that only 1 stone drops on defeat, and that it’s not a “hybrid stone”
We know previously from the fighting with hybrid monsters that they do drop stones, bjorn was disappointed about only getting a stone earlier.Occam's razer, it is most likely to be a hybrid stone it takes less leaps of logic to do so, no reason to assume it's not or to overcomplicate. Since we have not been told they don’t drop hybrid stones it’s a hybrid stone.Conceptually what a magic stone actually is is interesting now tbh. They seem more valuable than the essence since you can literally reconstruct the being from their stone. Feels alot like its a crystallised soul of sorts.
weird and random thought, but the mirror realm on the 5th floor, reading the manga for that part of the story, and going back to check in the novel for that part as well, but the mana stones there are mentioned in both as being darker in color, and that leads to them being more valuable due to mana density. If those mana stones are denser with mana, what would happen if stones from the 5th floor mirror realm are put into this machine? the monsters themselves arent stated to be different in any way, but if theres combinations going on and the mana in the stones is denser, what, if any, effect would such a thing have on the monster/essence that is produced? and if such a location like the mirror realm produces mana stones with higher mana density, are there other locations that produce higher mana density stones as well? since the 5th floor mirror realm was limited to the monsters of that floor, so if such a thing does have an effect on hybrid monsters, then there may be other locations that give similar for other floors
I wonder if the goblin is sensing bjorn or a boss that pops up for being in there for to long like the one that spawns at all the other areas just because the chief has never been here does not mean it has different conditions
Good question, though my money is on big baddie. Bjorn's thoughts isn’t more of a threat than the previous challenges (noark invasion, ice rock, basement exploration, etc) 😋
bro what if by using the machine to many times it causes there to be a variant like a stronger creature then the creature created because of left overs so the essence bjorn is going to get is going to give him everything he wants but with even more stat boost like i keep thinking about what that guy said last chapter and it leads me to this and this is why the goblin is telling them to leave because its a boss that is going to kill alot of people
I took the hit already like you guys mentioned last chapter in the comments. This essence, IF Bjorn gets it, it’s broken. What’s nice is that once we are past this I won’t have to worry about spoiling anything anymore because this is the NOT the spoiler wink that I saw. I can freely engage in the comments again.
The team needed to catch up to Bjorn, glad Aynar will finally be rebuilt soon! That fighting spirit was needed esp after her last stand for Bjorn in the dreadfear rift.
I’m actually confused too, I thought they spent 3 months exploring and then 20 days on essence mining. They’d still have 2 months, no? Oh wait, they still need time to get to village chief island, if this boss guy follows them across the basement floor. Man I was hoping Bjorn would get this essence… just his luck. Maybe a last ditch attempt?
there was a line in this chapter saying Bjorn had spent several months cataloging the mana stones, so i think they did a mini time skip, the line was “Over the past few months, I’d labeled and categorized tens of thousands of mana stones.”so i think the author just didnt make it super clear cause this is the only line im seeing about the amount of time passed and its rather non descript
I think he did that during their exploration – the search team was mapping out the factory, looking for the prison, and then hidden secrets, while the mages and others were observing the chimeras and categorizing stones. Bjorn was split between both tasks
so we know that Dreadfear was a person’s name, and the lord of Silence also had a name mentioned, So what if theres a Floor Lord thats true name is Hans…. Bjorn’s ultimate Challenge, a fight with Floor Lord Hans…
